Akan NPP Constituency Organizer Announces Chairmanship Bid

Akan: Mr Joseph Nana Oboako, the current Akan Constituency Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has declared his candidacy for the Chairmanship position in the forthcoming constituency executive elections. Mr Oboako aims to challenge the sitting Chairman, Mr Rabiu Awal, as the party gears up for its internal elections in preparation for the 2028 general elections.

According to Ghana News Agency, in a telephone interview, Mr Oboako, who previously held the position of Kadjebi District Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), stated his intention to run is motivated by a desire to reposition the party and enhance its grassroots structures. He emphasized his goal to work closely with party supporters to improve the NPP's electoral performance in the Akan Constituency, especially in the 2028 elections.

Mr Oboako, who has also served as Assemblyman for the Kadjebi Central Electoral Area, noted that his experience as Constituency Organiser has given him insights into the local challenges the party faces. He expressed confidence in his ability to promote unity, discipline, and renewed vigor within the party. "I believe the time has come for a more strategic and inclusive approach to party organisation, mobilisation and communication to ensure victory in future elections," he said.

Additionally, other significant positions in the constituency are being keenly contested. Mr Frank Bedi, the current Assistant Constituency Secretary, has expressed his ambition to run for the Communications Officer role, challenging the incumbent, Mr Frank Adjei-Worlanyo. In another contest, Mr Richard Senyo Ewormvor is vying for the Secretary position against the current Constituency Secretary, Mr Merigah Abdul Sataru.

The Akan Constituency NPP executive elections are anticipated to be highly competitive as candidates position themselves ahead of the 2028 general elections. Party members have been encouraged to conduct their campaigns with peace and respect to maintain unity within the party.
