Ahiable Re-elected Presiding Member of Kadjebi District Assembly

Kadjebi: Anthony Ahiable, Assembly Member for the Wawaso/Wawaboi Electoral Area, has been re-elected Presiding Member (PM) of the Kadjebi District Assembly in the Oti Region. Mr. Ahiable, who contested the position unopposed during an election held at the Assembly Hall in Kadjebi, secured 46 'Yes' votes and one 'No' vote from the 47 Assembly Members present and voting, representing an overwhelming endorsement of his leadership.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Ahiable's re-election followed the constitution of the Assembly and the mandatory election of a Presiding Member in line with the Local Governance Act. The exercise was supervised by officials of the Electoral Commission led by Christian Bokode and witnessed by traditional authorities, heads of departments, and other stakeholders.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Ahiable expressed gratitude to Assembly Members for the confidence reposed in him and for renewing his mandate for another two-year term. 'Your decision places a huge responsibility on me, and I do not take it for granted,' he stated. He pledged to continue leading the Assembly with humility, fairness, and respect for divergent opinions, stressing the need for unity and collective responsibility in carrying out the Assembly's mandate.

Mr. Ahiable appealed to Assembly Members to support his administration to ensure rapid socio-economic development in the district. 'The development of Kadjebi requires the collective effort of all stakeholders. I therefore call on my colleagues to work together in an atmosphere of cooperation, transparency, and mutual respect,' he said. He assured the Assembly of his commitment to promoting harmony among members and strengthening collaboration between the Assembly, traditional authorities, and the public to improve governance and accelerate development initiatives in the district.

Some Assembly Members who spoke to the Ghana News Agency after the election expressed confidence in Mr. Ahiable's leadership abilities, citing his experience, commitment, and cordial relationship with members as key factors influencing their decision. They expressed optimism that his continued leadership would help deepen unity within the Assembly and facilitate the implementation of development projects across the district.

The Kadjebi District Assembly is expected to focus on key development priorities, including education, healthcare delivery, road infrastructure, agriculture, and sanitation, to improve living conditions for residents. George Wellington Arhin, Kadjebi District Magistrate, administered the Oath of Secrecy, Oath of Office, and Oath of Allegiance.
