Abuja:Afrobeats musician Davido has drawn attention after an unexpected reaction to a viral post by activist VeryDarkMan (VDM). The post criticized both Davido and his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, for their political actions.
According to Ghana Web, the controversy began after Governor Adeleke attended a campaign meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja. During this meeting, he expressed his support for President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027, despite having contested the Osun governorship under the Accord party. Adeleke announced his intention to coordinate the APC campaign in Osun State.
VDM quickly responded, accusing Davido of previously leveraging his significant social media presence to oppose the APC during his uncle's campaign, despite allegedly being aware of Adeleke's alignment with the ruling party. VDM highlighted past tweets where Davido claimed he could never support the APC, which now contrast with Adeleke's political stance.
In a video, VDM accused Davido of manipulating his fans and criticized his involvement in political discussions. He argued that the Osun gubernatorial election was essentially a contest between factions within the APC, with Adeleke concealing his true political ties to secure votes. VDM further claimed that after Adeleke's victory, he received congratulations and a certificate of return from President Tinubu, confirming their political arrangement.
The activist also warned the public against being swayed by celebrity endorsements, suggesting that such endorsements are driven by personal interests rather than genuine concerns for voters.
