Africa Political Summit Underway in Accra to Examine Future of Campaigns

Accra: The eighth Africa Political Summit 2026 (APS 2026), a major continental gathering focused on the future of political campaigning in Africa, is underway in Accra. The three-day summit, organized by the Association of Political Consultants Africa (APCA), has brought together political strategists, policymakers, governance experts, and technology professionals, attracting participants from across Africa and selected international partners. According to Ghana News Agency, the event is themed 'Reinventing Political Campaigns: Strategy, Technology, Resourcing, and Grassroots Mobilization,' and seeks to discuss emerging trends shaping democratic processes on the African continent. It aims to provide a professional and non-partisan platform to examine how digital technologies, artificial intelligence, evolving voter behavior, and rising campaign costs are transforming political campaigning across Africa. In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr. Temitope Ajayi, the Secretary General of APCA, stated tha t discussions will focus on campaign strategy and political intelligence, technology and innovation in campaigns, campaign finance and resource mobilization, as well as grassroots and community mobilization. He highlighted that topics such as electoral mapping, voter segmentation, digital advertising, predictive modeling, cybersecurity, ethical political financing, and youth engagement strategies are expected to feature prominently. According to him, the summit comes at a critical time when African democracies are navigating rapid technological and political changes, requiring innovative and ethical approaches to political communication and voter engagement. Mr. Ajayi explained that besides contributing to strengthening democratic dialogue, promoting professional political management, and positioning Ghana as a hub for democratic innovation in Africa, expected outcomes of the summit include the establishment and adoption of a continental network for campaign technology collaboration. Dubbed the 'Accra Decla ration on Professional Political Consulting in Africa (2026),' the declaration will focus on the development of best-practice frameworks for political consulting on the continent.
