Accra: Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has called on African countries to deepen unity and cooperation as a way of unlocking the continent's full economic potential. Speaking at the Africa Prosperity Dialogue, she emphasized that Africa's long-term growth depends on how well its countries work together to build a truly integrated economy.
According to Ghana Web, Prof Opoku-Agyemang urged governments across the continent to think beyond short-term fixes and instead invest in long and medium-term policies, strong development finance institutions, and regional projects that match Africa's collective ambitions. She highlighted that greater unity would allow African entrepreneurs and manufacturers to view the continent not as a collection of small, isolated markets but as one large, connected economic space filled with opportunity.
Prof Opoku-Agyemang encouraged policymakers and business leaders to place renewed emphasis on initiatives that strengthen cross-border cooperation and regional integration. She noted that these efforts are critical to driving sustainable growth and that integrating borders does not mean erasing sovereignty but organizing it in the service of shared prosperity and a stronger continental market.
