Accra: Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has described life in opposition as 'painful and lonely,' urging members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to remain united as the party works toward regaining power. Speaking on January 22, 2026, he noted that opposition comes with isolation and a loss of political influence.
According to Ghana Web, the Minority Leader emphasized that the party's objective is not to linger in opposition but to reclaim power to serve the people of Ghana. He highlighted the harsh realities of opposition, expressing that good friends often become distant, leaving one isolated. Despite these challenges, Afenyo-Markin stressed the importance of unity and discipline within the party to achieve victory.
He warned that internal divisions could jeopardize the party's chances of success. 'Power does not come through division. Power comes through discipline, unity, and sacrifice,' Afenyo-Markin stated.
