Afenyo-Markin Stresses Strong Bond with Kennedy Agyapong Amid Criticism

Accra: The Minority Leader of Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has emphasized his enduring friendship with Kennedy Agyapong, the former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, amidst criticism following the NPP presidential primaries.

According to Ghana Web, Afenyo-Markin, who also represents Effutu as an MP, regards Kennedy Agyapong as a trusted confidant, sharing a special connection he terms 'a code.' During a recent event in his constituency, Afenyo-Markin lauded Agyapong for his unwavering commitment to accountability and dedication to the people of Ghana.

Afenyo-Markin expressed, "We salute Honourable Kennedy Ohene Agyapong for his passion, his firm belief in accountability, and his unshakeable commitment to the ordinary Ghanaian. For me personally, this is a true and trusted friend, with whom I share a code. I believe that in life, loyalty to friendship is very essential."

He further emphasized the importance of loyalty in friendships and acknowledged that while their bond remains strong, both he and Agyapong prioritize their party's interests. Afenyo-Markin also revealed that Kennedy Agyapong had a supportive conversation with the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, expressing his commitment to backing Bawumia in the 2028 elections.

This statement from Afenyo-Markin comes in response to criticism from his constituency, where Kennedy Agyapong achieved a decisive victory. Some social media users have accused Afenyo-Markin of favoring Agyapong, with calls for his removal as Minority Leader following Dr. Bawumia's success in the primaries.
