Advans Ghana Plants 1,600 Trees in Annual Sustainability Initiative

Accra: Advans Ghana Savings and Loans has reinforced its commitment to environmental sustainability by planting 1,600 Acacia, Teak, and Shea seedlings at the Chipa and Kogni Forest Reserves in the Greater Accra and Northern Regions. The tree planting formed part of its annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

According to Ghana News Agency, a statement issued in Accra highlighted that the exercise was organized in collaboration with the Forestry Commission, bringing together staff and clients to support Ghana's reforestation efforts and contribute to a greener, more sustainable future. Mr. Guillaume Valence, the Chief Executive Officer of Advans Ghana Savings and Loans, reaffirmed the institution's commitment to responsible and sustainable banking during the event. He emphasized that sustainable growth goes beyond financial success, focusing on creating lasting value for customers, communities, and the environment.

Mr. Valence stated that each tree planted was an investment in a healthier and more resilient Ghana for future generations. He also noted that Advans Ghana's commitment extends beyond planting trees, as they engage in continuous monitoring in partnership with the Forestry Commission. The institution has achieved an 80 percent survival rate from its previous tree planting exercises, which have been ongoing for the past seven years, demonstrating its dedication to ensuring the long-term success of the initiative.

Furthermore, Mr. Valence mentioned that the institution is reducing its environmental footprint through digital transformation. In 2025, they reduced paper consumption from approximately 1,800 reams to just 445 reams, representing a reduction of more than 75 percent. Based on standard paper production estimates, the 1,600 trees planted this year are equivalent to more than 26,500 reams of paper, nearly 60 times the institution's annual paper consumption, underscoring its holistic approach to sustainability.

The tree planting exercise is part of Advans Ghana's broader climate roadmap, which focuses on environmental conservation, promoting climate resilience, and raising awareness on climate action. It also involves creating green and climate-related loan products and developing innovative financial solutions to support communities affected by climate-related disasters.
