Adaklu: The Adaklu Traditional Council has formed a five-member Welfare Committee to oversee the welfare of citizens of the area. The committee is chaired by Togbe Dzegblade IV, the Dufia of Adaklu Kodzobi.
According to Ghana News Agency, the formation of the committee was communicated through a letter signed by Mr. Foli Mawutor, the Registrar. The letter highlighted that Togbega Gbogbi Atsa V, the President of the Council and Paramount Chief of Adaklu, appointed Togbe Dzegblade as Chairman of the Committee due to his community service and concern for the well-being of Adaklu's people.
The Council expressed confidence in Togbe Dzegblade's leadership to enhance the welfare and living conditions of community members, especially the vulnerable and underprivileged. The Welfare Committee's responsibilities include identifying welfare needs of community members, focusing on the elderly, persons with disabilities, widows, orphans, and other vulnerable groups.
The Committee will also develop welfare programs, liaise with government agencies and NGOs for resource mobilization, handle welfare petitions, maintain records of interventions, and report to the Council. The Council expressed its anticipation of the Committee's contributions and extended well wishes for its success.
The letter was also sent to the Registrar of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs. In a conversation with the Ghana News Agency, Togbe Dzegblade acknowledged the task's magnitude but was optimistic about achieving the Committee's goals with members' support. He mentioned plans to involve additional people to enhance the Committee's performance and urged citizens to support the initiative.
