Accra:Founder of Class Media Group, Alhaji Seidu Agongo, has emphasized that credibility, accuracy, and accountability should be the foundation of Accra TV's operations, as he addressed the launch of the new television station.
According to Ghana Web, Agongo stated that the media has a critical role in restoring confidence in public institutions, especially in an era where the credibility of information and the motives of authority figures are increasingly questioned. He stressed that trust cannot be demanded but must be earned through responsible journalism.
Agongo highlighted that the launch of Accra TV should focus on the fundamental issue of building trust between the media and the public, beyond the excitement of expanding the Class Media Group. He noted that trust is essential in relationships within society, including families, communities, businesses, and public institutions, but it is under pressure in Ghana and globally.
He pointed out that the media is a crucial link between institutions and citizens, and its effectiveness depends on its commitment to credibility and the public interest. Agongo urged media organizations to prioritize verification, fairness, and consistency, and to avoid needlessly inflaming tensions.
Agongo asserted that at Class Media Group, credibility has been the most valuable asset, more than any broadcasting equipment. This principle will guide Accra TV, with a focus on being a platform for reliable information, constructive dialogue, and accountability.
He concluded by highlighting the importance of public trust for both the media industry and national development, noting that confidence in institutions and information leads to stronger businesses, cohesive communities, and a thriving democracy. Agongo called for a collective effort to build a culture of trust, central to the media group's work.
