Apremdo: The Apremdo traditional leaders, alongside the Market Queens of the Apremdo market, have successfully conducted the necessary traditional rites to officially 'open' the Abenbebom Market. The market, located in the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipality, has been notorious for over 25 years due to its abandonment and perceived waste of state resources.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Effia Kwesimintsim Municipality (EKMA) decided to relocate traders from Jubilee Park to the market in an effort to rejuvenate the area. Initially, the relocation faced resistance, but traders are now relieved to have a stable and permanent location to conduct their business. However, there was a pressing need to appease the market gods through traditional rites to ensure prosperous business activities.
Madam Esi Gyaba, a leading market queen accompanied by other queens, expressed her satisfaction with the completion of the rites, stating, "We are happy that finally the rites have been performed.markets all over the country undergo such rites to attract blessings from the gods of the land, we have been here since Thursday and are glad that today we are climaxing the whole traditional rites."
Nana Egya Kwamina XI, the Chief of Apremdo, who led the rites with the Palace elders, emphasized the importance of performing committal rites for ancestral blessings. He highlighted that the significance of these traditional rites is to ensure that traders are accepted and blessed by the gods for business success. He also warned against unwarranted conflicts and curses among the traders.
