Kumasi: Professor Frederick Kwaku Sarfo, Vice Chancellor of the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), has asked students to avoid distractions that add no value to the quality of education and training they receive from the university.
According to Ghana News Agency, Professor Sarfo emphasized the importance of adopting positive attitudes towards studies, avoiding procrastination, maintaining discipline, steering clear of examination malpractices, and using proper channels of communication for addressing grievances. He delivered these remarks during the sixth matriculation ceremony of the university held in Kumasi.
A total of 13,525 students, comprising 7,333 males and 6,192 females, were admitted to pursue various undergraduate and post-graduate degree programmes at the Asante Mampong and Kumasi campuses of AAMUSTED. Professor Sarfo highlighted that the university's programmes are designed to empower students for self-employment, enabling them not only to create sustainable livelihoods for themselves but also to generate employment opportunities for others.
Students at AAMUSTED are set to receive industry-relevant skills and entrepreneurial training as a core part of the university's comprehensive academic package. Professor Sarfo also commended the government for the ongoing construction of the 3,500 capacity GETfund sponsored Convention Hall, which will provide a modern and spacious auditorium for major ceremonies.
Professor Sarfo stated that the university's management is committed to upgrading existing facilities and embarking on new projects to accommodate the increasing student enrolment. He urged students to make the most of the current infrastructure to achieve their academic and professional goals.
