Accra:The Dome-Kwabenya branch chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Nana Ayisi, has raised concerns about increasing divisions within the party in the constituency. This situation follows the executives' election held on October 24.
According to Ghana Web, Nana Ayisi has accused the constituency's Member of Parliament, Elikplim Akurugu, of contributing to these tensions. He emphasized that party leadership should focus on fostering unity and reconciliation among members. Ayisi expressed these views in a video shared on TikTok and noted that the MP was expected to unite members rather than exacerbate existing divisions.
The comments come amid demands from some discontented aspirants for the annulment of the October 24 executives’ election, citing alleged irregularities. Nana Ayisi further claimed that the MP and her husband had provided uniforms to certain individuals, who were reportedly monitoring the activities of party members opposed to the election results. He voiced concerns about the safety of party members who publicly discussed the contested polls.
The aggrieved aspirants have questioned the credibility of the election, arguing that alleged irregularities during the voting process have compromised its fairness and transparency. They are urging party leadership to investigate these claims and consider annulling the results if violations are confirmed.
This ongoing dispute has highlighted concerns about internal cohesion within the Dome-Kwabenya NDC, with affected members calling on party leadership to address their grievances and restore unity.
