Accra:Henry Nana Boakye, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has accused former President John Dramani Mahama of allowing the proliferation of cocaine activities in Ghana.
According to Ghana Web, Boakye claimed that Mahama's administration is indirectly encouraging drug trafficking networks by turning a blind eye to the growing cocaine trade. He expressed concern about the negative impact on Ghana's social and economic fabric if such illicit activities persist unchecked.
Boakye urged the current government to take decisive steps to clamp down on narcotics trafficking and prevent Ghana from becoming a hub for cocaine dealers. He emphasized the need for stricter border controls, better intelligence gathering, and enhanced cooperation with international law enforcement agencies to effectively tackle the menace.
The accusation has sparked reactions across the political spectrum, with calls for transparency and accountability from all parties involved. The issue of drug trafficking remains a critical challenge for Ghana, threatening public health and security.
