Mussa Dankwah Discusses Challenges and Responsibilities as a Pollster

Accra:Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, says the attention that comes with his work as a pollster has made accuracy and public trust even more important, as Ghanaians increasingly look to his firm's surveys to understand the country's political mood.

According to Ghana Web, Dankwah, who has been involved in polling for almost seven years, discussed how the recognition his work receives is more of a responsibility than an achievement. Appearing on Raw with Roselyn Felli, he emphasized the importance of maintaining accuracy and integrity to avoid disappointing the Ghanaian public.

'For me, it is a responsibility to stay on top and to stay accurate and to ensure that you don't disappoint the people of Ghana by doing anything untoward,' Dankwah stated. He noted the dual nature of public recognition, which brings fame but must be managed carefully due to the reliance people place on his insights.

Dankwah also addressed the criticism that arises when polling results do not align with the expectations of political parties or their supporters. He acknowledged that public opinion research often attracts both praise and criticism, depending on whose interests the findings serve.

'They will come after you if it doesn't go their way. They will sing praises for you if it goes their way,' he remarked, highlighting that such reactions are expected and are part of the job. He has learned to anticipate these reactions and not let them distract him from his responsibilities.
