Accra:Greater Accra Former Ayawaso Central Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ebenezer Arkutu, has announced his ambition to transform the party's Greater Accra Regional Secretariat into a formidable bloc within the NDC. He aims to create the most powerful regional entity in the party's history, as he runs for the position of Greater Accra Regional Secretary in the upcoming November 2026 regional executive elections.
According to Ghana Web, Mr. Arkutu successfully passed the vetting process and secured the fourth position on the ballot. He emphasized his commitment to enhance the party's administrative capabilities, strengthen communication with grassroots members, and prepare the Greater Accra NDC for the 2028 general elections.
Arkutu is leveraging his experience in constituency-level leadership and his corporate management background to improve coordination, accountability, and service delivery within the regional administration. He highlighted the need for clear structures and institutional reforms to address members' concerns effectively.
He stated that the role of Regional Secretary requires both political experience and professional competence, especially in dealings with the Presidency, Parliament, and other governmental bodies. Arkutu plans to focus on three campaign priorities access to leadership, effective representation, and equal opportunities for members across the region.
Arkutu also emphasized the importance of recognizing grassroots members as vital stakeholders in the party and urged delegates to choose leaders based on integrity, competence, and their ability to deliver results, rather than transactional politics.
His campaign comes at a crucial time as the NDC prepares to elect regional executives to coordinate party activities, mobilize supporters, and strengthen organizational structures for future elections. Arkutu is confident that his blend of grassroots mobilization experience, constituency leadership, and corporate skills will enable him to effectively manage the Greater Accra Regional Secretariat.
He has pledged to collaborate with regional executives, constituency officers, and party members to create an accessible, accountable, and performance-driven secretariat that meets the needs of the party across all 34 constituencies in the region. Expressing confidence in his ability to implement his proposed reforms, Arkutu seeks the support of delegates to achieve a collective vision for the NDC.
