Tema:Management of Ghana Water Ltd (GWL) has initiated efforts to address water supply challenges in Community 25, Tema, Ashaiman New Town, Gbetsile, and surrounding areas. The company is working on implementing a three-zone distribution system aimed at enhancing water access for residents.
According to Ghana Web, the proposed Water Demand Management Programme will involve dividing the affected communities into three zones, each with a designated water supply schedule. This system seeks to enable residents to anticipate water supply times and organize their daily activities more effectively.
GWL management conducted a field visit to these communities to evaluate the current water distribution challenges and identify factors affecting supply. The aim is to explore measures that can improve service delivery. The planned zoning arrangement is expected to provide a more structured approach to water distribution, allowing households to better prepare for their water needs rather than face uncertainty regarding supply days.
However, specific details such as the communities assigned to each zone, the exact supply days, and the implementation timeline of the programme have yet to be announced by GWL. The company has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the reliability of water supply and service delivery to consumers as it addresses the ongoing challenges in these areas.
The success of the proposed system will largely depend on the consistency of water supply, effective communication of schedules, and ensuring residents have access to reliable information about water availability. For the affected households and businesses, the crucial question remains whether these planned changes will lead to more predictable and dependable access to water.
