Swedru AME Zion Basic School Celebrates New KG Block and Borehole Commissioning

Swedru:Mr. Eric Gyamfi Odoom, the Agona West Municipal Chief Executive, has officially commissioned a new kindergarten block and mechanized borehole for the Swedru AME Zion (E) Basic School. This development marks a significant enhancement in the school's infrastructure.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Gyamfi Odoom also inaugurated a three-unit classroom block for Agona Odom Junior High School, which had previously been housed in a wooden structure for many years. During separate ceremonies with parents, guardians, teachers, and students, he emphasized the government's commitment under President John Mahama to improving educational infrastructure in Agona West.

Mr. Odoom, who previously served as the Headmaster of AME Zion E Basic School, stated that the decision to construct the new KG block was made shortly after his appointment as MCE to provide a better educational foundation for young children. The addition of the mechanized borehole aims to alleviate the financial burden of water bills on the school authorities.

He further announced that funds have been allocated in the 2027 budget for constructing a new three-unit classroom block for Junior High School students, replacing the current dilapidated structure. He urged school authorities, management committees, and parents to maintain the new facilities as their own property.

Mr. Gyamfi Odoom expressed gratitude to teacher unions for their cooperation in ending a strike and resuming classes. Mr. Bismark Mfoafo Offei, the Agona West Municipal Director of Education, commended the MCE for addressing the school's infrastructure issues, enhancing teaching and learning conditions.

Rev. Thomas Arkoh Acquaah, Manager of AME Zion schools in Agona Swedru, thanked the MCE for the new block and future plans for additional classrooms. The improvements have encouraged more parents to enroll their children, increasing student numbers.
