Iran Declares Enriched Nuclear Materials Will Remain in Country

Tehran:Enriched nuclear materials will remain in Iran as they are deemed the property of the Islamic Republic and are meant for use solely within the country. This statement was made by Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC).

According to Ghana News Agency, Rezaei emphasized that "not a single particle of enriched nuclear material will leave Iran," describing these materials as a significant national asset and a treasure of the Iranian people. He also noted that the Iranian leadership has decided there will be no negotiations with the United States until trust is strengthened with the Islamic Republic. The first step towards building this trust, he stated, is for the United States to meet conditions set by Iran.

Earlier, in September, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi mentioned that Tehran had conveyed a seven-day plan to open the Strait of Hormuz to Washington through mediators. However, this proposal was rejected by US President Donald Trump. Tensions further escalated when, on February 28, the United States and Israel began strikes on targets in Iran, which led to retaliatory actions from Iran. Although Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum in mid-June to cease hostilities, exchanges of strikes resumed shortly after. The conflict remains unresolved at this time.
