Martin Kpebu Urges Ghanaians to Take Action Against Unfavorable Government Decisions

Accra:Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has urged Ghanaians to move beyond verbal criticism of President John Dramani Mahama's appointment of Emelia Afi Agbenyo to the Electoral Commission (EC) and consider concrete ways to hold the government accountable.

According to Ghana Web, Kpebu emphasized that simply complaining about political leaders' decisions is insufficient if those decisions appear to serve personal interests rather than the public good. He encouraged citizens to think about practical measures to respond to such actions.

Kpebu argued that waiting until the next election to express disapproval is no longer necessary. Instead, he suggested that citizens should actively punish the government for mistakes as they arise. He made these remarks during a discussion on JoyNews.

Encouraging Ghanaians to continue vocalizing their objections, Kpebu highlighted the importance of ensuring that their concerns are heard by the President. He also stressed the need for citizens to demand greater accountability regarding the independence and composition of the Electoral Commission.

He concluded by reminding Ghanaians that they have the power to influence government accountability both at the polls and during the intervening periods, urging them to be vocal about their discontent with the recent appointment.
