Kuami Eugene’s Rise to Fame Led to Distanced Friendships, Says Kyei Nwom

Accra:Former Mentor contestant and media personality Kyei Nwom has claimed that Ghanaian musician Kuami Eugene gradually distanced himself from friends after achieving fame. Kyei Nwom described how they shared a close bond before Kuami Eugene was signed to Lynx Entertainment, and how they supported him wholeheartedly when he was the only one among their circle to secure a record deal.

According to Ghana Web, Kyei Nwom was so close to Kuami Eugene that he visited the singer’s church to perform and built a relationship with his family. Kyei Nwom noted that fame impacts people differently, and in Kuami Eugene’s case, it led to a change in their friendship dynamics. He recounted how they were “very cool,” having met Kuami Eugene’s mother and sister.

Kyei Nwom explained that after Kuami Eugene signed with Lynx Entertainment, he was in a WhatsApp group with other Mentor contestants who celebrated Kuami Eugene’s success. They believed that his success would eventually create opportunities for all of them. Despite their genuine happiness for Kuami Eugene, Kyei Nwom alleged that as Kuami Eugene’s career progressed, communication between them gradually faded.

He speculated that perhaps Kuami Eugene’s record label advised him to disassociate from old friends. Kyei Nwom emphasized that maintaining friendships isn’t about professional collaborations but about personal connections, such as simply checking in with friends.
