Electricity Maintenance to Cause Power Outages in Accra and Tema

Accra:Residents and businesses in parts of Accra and Tema will face power outages as the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) conducts maintenance on its electricity distribution network. The planned exercise will take place from Monday, October 19, to Friday, October 23, 2026, with different areas experiencing interruptions at various times based on scheduled work.

According to Ghana Web, most outages are anticipated between 900 a.m. and 500 p.m., although some areas may be affected from 1000 a.m. to 400 p.m. Communities in the Accra West, Accra East, and Tema operational areas, such as Darkuman, Kokompe, New Fadama, Anyaa, and others, are listed for the maintenance exercise.

On Monday, October 19, outages are expected in parts of Darkuman and Kokompe, among others, while Tuesday's schedule includes the Village of Hope and Ayawaso Township. Wednesday will see interruptions in areas like Gbawé Bulemin and Gonse, with further outages in the Tema area, including Odumse and Central University.

The exercise will continue on Thursday with Nsakina and Ga Odumase among the affected communities. On Friday, October 23, interruptions are planned in Abease and Achiaman, with other areas like Oyibi and Dodowa also included in the schedule.

ECG has apologized for any inconvenience and urged customers to plan accordingly. The maintenance aims to improve electricity supply and resolve technical issues within the network, though it may disrupt operations for businesses reliant on consistent power. Customers are advised to check the schedule for their respective communities and prepare for the planned outages.
