Accra:Accra The Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, Captain (Rtd) John Kwame Jabari, has issued a warning to sand winners operating along the Accra-Kumasi Expressway project site, cautioning them to avoid the area or face severe repercussions.
According to Ghana Web, a security team has been dispatched following reports of illegal sand-winning activities. Preliminary investigations reveal that these activities have been occurring for approximately two weeks, with suspects allegedly entering the area at night to load sand onto trucks.
Captain Jabari emphasized that patrols have been established along the expressway to prevent further incidents, urging particularly sand winners to stay clear of the expressway. He also highlighted the government's intolerance towards any actions that could hinder the project's progress, stating that such disruptions will not be entertained.
This warning comes after the arrest of 15 individuals suspected of engaging in sand-winning activities in the Sewua-Donyina-Appiadu area of the Ashanti Region. Six vehicles, including a wheel loader, were seized during the operation.
