Accra:A sports journalist from TV XYZ has expressed dissatisfaction with the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, for allegedly omitting the station's journalists from the media list selected to cover the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to Ghana Web, the journalist claims that TV XYZ actively campaigned for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the 2024 general elections to help the party gain power. Despite this support, the sports minister was unable to secure even a single visa slot for a journalist from the station to cover the upcoming World Cup in the United States.
The journalist expressed disappointment, stating that the station had strongly supported the government but was overlooked when it came to media slots for the World Cup. He criticized Kofi Adams for allegedly selling visas and called for an investigation into the matter.
Additionally, the journalist criticized Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku, questioning his leadership and claiming neglect of those who supported the government's rise to power. The journalist lamented the treatment of grassroots supporters and expressed skepticism about the remaining two years of Okraku's leadership.
