NCCE Reviews Civic Education’s Impact in Adentan

Adentan:The Adentan Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) recently held a community feedback meeting to evaluate the impact of a previous civic education training program focusing on the rule of law and anti-corruption efforts.

According to Ghana Web, the meeting brought together participants from the initial training to discuss their experiences and reflect on how the acquired knowledge had influenced their understanding of issues such as the rule of law, women's rights, accountability, and corruption prevention.

The initial training took place on November 6, 2025, targeting women from diverse groups, including market women, dressmakers and fashion designers, self-employed women, and representatives of faith-based organizations. The NCCE implemented the program in partnership with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and with co-funding from the European Union (EU).

This training aimed to equip participants with practical knowledge regarding the rule of law, women's rights, domestic violence, corruption, transparency, and accountability. They were introduced to legal frameworks like the Whistleblower Act and learned about appropriate channels for reporting corruption and other misconduct.

Experts from the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service and the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) facilitated the discussions, providing information on participants' rights, legal protections, and civic responsibilities.

The feedback meeting served as an opportunity for the NCCE to assess the ongoing relevance of the training and to encourage participants to apply the knowledge gained in their daily lives and community activities. Discussions underscored the importance of respecting the law, protecting the rights of others, and promoting integrity to combat corruption and strengthen accountability and governance.

This engagement is part of the NCCE's broader mandate to promote civic awareness, responsible citizenship, democratic governance, and public participation in national development. Through follow-up engagements, the Commission aims to reinforce lessons from previous educational interventions, foster sustained community participation, and promote behavioral change.

The NCCE urged community members to remain active in civic affairs, respect Ghana's laws, protect others' rights, and contribute to building a transparent and accountable society.
