Hassan Ayariga Criticizes Finance Minister Ato Forson Over Fund Withholding

Accra:Hassan Ayariga, founder and leader of the All People's Congress (APC), has publicly criticized Ghana's Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson. Ayariga accused Forson of withholding government funds that were approved by Parliament, which he claims is causing difficulties for various ministries in carrying out their activities.

According to Ghana Web, Ayariga alleged during a Metro TV interview that the Finance Minister is keeping hold of funds under the pretext of requiring "commitment authorisation" before disbursement. He questioned whether Ato Forson sees himself as a 'demigod' due to this control over the funds.

Dr. Ayariga further criticized the Finance Minister for holding weekly meetings in different regions, suggesting that these trips are unnecessary while ministries are left without the funds needed for their projects. He expressed frustration that these meetings are prioritized over the release of funds necessary for governmental operations.
