Accra:A formal petition has been lodged with the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to initiate an independent investigation into alleged corruption and administrative irregularities associated with Ghana's 2026 FIFA World Cup visa facilitation processes.
According to Ghana Web, the petition seeks to scrutinize the involvement of the National Sports Authority, the Ghana Tourism Authority, and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, along with the role of TRIBE Culture Fest, the Ghana Tourism Federation, and other parties.
The document urges CHRAJ to investigate whether the actions of these public institutions and their officials constituted corruption, abuse of power, conflicts of interest, or other violations of legal and administrative standards. It highlights the need to assess beneficiary-selection procedures, institutional decisions, and financial transactions to ensure compliance with legal obligations.
The petition notes the seriousness of the circumstances, emphasizing the need for transparency in public authority exercises, accuracy in institutional representations, and robust accountability mechanisms. It stresses that public institutions must demonstrate that their decisions are fair, transparent, and aligned with constitutional and legal requirements.
This petition arises amid ongoing controversy surrounding payments and visa facilitation services related to Ghana's preparations for the upcoming World Cup.
