Agona Nkwanta:Emmanuel Kwofie, a 30-year-old farmer, has been sentenced to three months in prison with hard labor for assaulting his wife, Diana Mensah. The incident, captured in a video that went viral on social media, led to his arrest and conviction.
According to Ghana Web, the Agona Nkwanta District Police Command conducted an investigation into the incident, which revealed that Kwofie and Mensah, who sells second-hand clothing, reside in Domeabra within the Agona Nkwanta Municipality. The assault occurred on October 8, 2026, after Kwofie accused his wife of having an extramarital affair.
Kwofie was arrested on October 12, 2026, and appeared before the Agona Nkwanta District Court on October 14. During the court proceedings, he pled guilty to the assault charge. The court, overseen by His Worship Kuma Selorm Dzata, delivered the sentence following Kwofie's admission of guilt. The viral nature of the video played a significant role in bringing the case to public attention.
