Interdicted Headmaster’s Political Ambitions Under Scrutiny Amid Obuasi Assault Allegations

Obuasi:The headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School in the Ashanti Region, Zakaria Abdulai, has been interdicted following allegations of sexual misconduct. Abdulai, who has been identified as an executive of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), is reportedly seeking a leadership position within the party.

According to Ghana Web, investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni discovered Abdulai's political ambitions while investigating the allegations. Awuni's findings indicate that Abdulai is currently the Juaben constituency secretary for the NDC and aims to become the constituency chairman.

Awuni mentioned that a former NDC executive alleged that some local politicians tried to interfere with the investigation. The executive, Frederick Addai, suggested that party members have attempted to mitigate the situation, indicating potential political influence in the case.

The Ghana Education Service has suspended Abdulai at the direction of Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu, who also called for a thorough investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service. The suspension comes amid reports of unrest among students, who reacted to the allegations with protests and vandalism.
