Accra:Louis Appiah, also known as Commander OD4, has been appointed as the Director of Events and Programmes for the National Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). This appointment comes after 15 years of dedicated service and a steady rise through the party ranks, reflecting his extensive political journey and contributions to the NPP.
According to Ghana Web, Commander OD4's political career began in student politics, where he made a mark as an active figure at the tertiary level. He served as the Finance Officer for the Students' Representative Council at Koforidua Technical University and later became the Eastern Regional SRC President. His leadership roles extended to serving as the National Director of Finance for DESAG-UCC.
Within the NPP, he held the position of TESCON President at Koforidua Technical University during the 2011/2012 academic year. He then progressed to roles such as Polling Station Youth Organiser, Polling Station Organiser, and New Juaben South Constituency Youth Organiser from 2018 to 2022, where he played a key role in grassroots party organisation.
Appiah's experience in party administration also includes serving as Director of Operations for the NPP during the 2020 general elections and as Deputy Campaign Coordinator for the 2024 general elections within the New Juaben South Constituency. He has been a part of the party's Communication Wing since 2011, contributing to its communication strategies.
Despite an unsuccessful bid to become the Eastern Regional Youth Organiser, his participation demonstrated his ongoing commitment to youth leadership. His new role with the NPP National Youth Wing is expected to leverage his experience in student leadership, event coordination, and political communication to enhance the party's youth engagement and programme coordination as it prepares for the 2028 general elections.
