Miracles Aboagye Challenges Timing of Emelia Afi Agbenyo’s NDC Association

Baku:Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the National Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has disputed claims regarding the timing of Emelia Afi Agbenyo's association with the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He insists that her political affiliation was evident during her university years, well before Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang was selected as the NDC's running mate.

According to Ghana Web, Aboagye highlighted that Agbenyo was actively involved in student politics at the University of Ghana from 2004 to 2008, where she was recognized as an NDC supporter. He recounted her tenure as the Students' Representative Council (SRC) secretary in 2008, at a time when the SRC president was a member of the NPP.

Aboagye stated, "I was at the University of Ghana between 2003 and 2007. Afi was at the University of Ghana between 2004 and 2008," affirming her public political involvement. He argued that her engagement in campus politics revealed her political inclinations well before her recent appointment as a Deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.

He dismissed the notion that Agbenyo's NDC affiliation commenced only with the nomination of a female vice-presidential candidate, condemning such assertions as an affront to Ghanaians' intelligence. Aboagye remarked, "If the NDC comes to tell you in 2026 that she is a consultant and an advocate and that she came to join them when the female vice president was nominated, that is the biggest insult to the intelligence of the people of this country."
