Marvin Senaya Nears Recovery Following World Cup Injury

Paris:Ghana defender Marvin Senaya has advanced in his recovery process, having been seen running on grass as he rehabilitates from a hamstring injury sustained during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to Ghana Web, the 25-year-old defender was injured in Ghana's Round of 32 match against Colombia on July 3, 2026. The injury forced him off the field in the 13th minute, and Ghana went on to lose 1-0, ending their World Cup run.

Senaya, who had played in all four of Ghana's matches before his injury, underwent successful surgery in Paris. He then returned to his club, AJ Auxerre, to continue his rehabilitation. The Ghana Football Association initially projected an eight-week recovery period.

By August 2026, Senaya had resumed gym work, focusing on strengthening his injured right leg, and was anticipated to return to action in September. His recent activity on grass marks significant progress, though the timeline for his return to competitive football remains uncertain.

A full recovery would be beneficial for both Auxerre and the Ghana national team, as Senaya aims to overcome his injury and return to the field.
