Ghana Football Association to Receive Increased Funding from CAF

Sal:The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to receive US$700,000 annually from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), following an increase in financial support for its 54 member associations.

According to Ghana Web, CAF President Patrice Motsepe announced the new funding figures during the organization's strategy conference in Sal, Cape Verde, which took place from October 7 to 9, 2026. This increase brings the annual allocation to US$700,000 per association, up from the previously reported US$400,000 in March 2025, and significantly higher than the US$200,000 provided before that.

The adjustment in funding aims to bolster football development across Africa, supporting initiatives in grassroots programs, youth competitions, women's football, domestic leagues, and improvements in coaching and refereeing. With the new funding, the total allocation for all member associations will amount to US$37.8 million annually, compared to US$10.8 million at the previous rate of US$200,000.

This increased funding offers the GFA an opportunity to tackle longstanding challenges in the sport, such as the development of young players, inadequate football infrastructure, and issues facing domestic competitions. The effectiveness of the GFA's utilization of these additional resources will be crucial in addressing these challenges.
