Kumasi:Ghanaian rapper Okese 1 has declared the termination of 'Amotia Geng,' a movement integral to his identity and music career, citing his faith in God as the primary reason for this decision.
According to Ghana Web, the rapper shared on X that while the movement had the potential to become one of the biggest in Ghana, its association with blasphemy compelled him to abandon it. He emphasized that his commitment to God was the sole reason for ceasing to promote the movement.
Okese 1, whose real name is Afrane Frank, created Amotia Geng with friends from Kumasi. Originally, it was a brotherhood for short, confident, and fashion-conscious men aiming to make their presence known on the streets. Over time, the movement expanded beyond its initial purpose and became deeply tied to Okese 1's public persona, music, and fanbase.
The movement gained significant popularity following Okese 1's breakthrough in 2020 with his hit song 'Yie Yie,' which helped establish Amotia Geng as a recognizable part of his brand. The word "Amotia" in Twi refers to a dwarf or a person of short stature.
