Accra:Ghanaian actor Van Vicker has filed a defamation lawsuit against fellow actor Kwadwo Nkansah, known as LilWin, seeking GHS10 million in damages. The lawsuit stems from statements made by LilWin in a video, which Van Vicker alleges have harmed his reputation as an actor, film producer, and director.
According to Ghana Web, the legal action, initiated on October 10, 2026, includes accusations from Van Vicker that LilWin made false claims regarding his professional conduct on a movie project. Van Vicker is requesting a court declaration that these statements are defamatory, as well as both general and exemplary damages.
Van Vicker is also demanding a public retraction and apology from LilWin on news portals, with the same level of visibility as the original statements, for four consecutive weeks. The dispute is centered on LilWin's allegations that Van Vicker failed to fulfill his duties on a film production, did not respond to communication attempts, and did not return calls despite agreeing to participate in the project.
LilWin accused Van Vicker of seeking public sympathy by discussing their disagreement with GhanaWeb. Nevertheless, LilWin expressed his willingness to forgive Van Vicker if he apologizes and clarifies his lack of response to the accusations. He warned that Van Vicker might lose his role in an upcoming movie, 'Journey to Africa,' unless he shows remorse.
In his claim, Van Vicker contends that the statements painted him as dishonest, disrespectful, and incompetent, suggesting he accepts roles but fails to perform. He also argues that the allegations implied he was deceitful and unprofessional, potentially leading to his exclusion from Kumawood productions. Van Vicker denies these accusations, asserting his professionalism and adherence to industry standards.
The court documents reveal that the statements remain accessible online and may continue to harm Van Vicker's reputation through search engines like Google. Van Vicker is seeking a declaration of defamation, GHS10 million in exemplary damages, general damages for libel, along with a public retraction, apology, and coverage of his legal fees.
