Nyankpala:Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has emphasized the need for Ghana to produce more goods locally and process its raw materials to enhance job creation and living standards.
According to Ghana Web, Dr. Forson, speaking at the University for Development Studies, Nyankpala Campus, identified the dependence on raw material exports and finished goods imports as critical issues that the government's New Economy agenda aims to tackle.
He noted that while economic growth has occurred, it has not sufficiently transformed the economy to create ample employment opportunities, particularly for young people. The focus of the New Economy agenda is to strengthen domestic production and add value to agricultural and mineral resources, ultimately creating jobs and improving household living standards.
Dr. Forson also highlighted the need to address structural weaknesses that lead to financial instability, stressing that economic stability should result in tangible improvements in people's lives.
