Ghana’s 7-Foot Basketball Hopeful Aims for National Team

Ngleshie Amanfro:Ephraim Zinser Mac-Saawa, a seven-foot-tall resident of Ngleshie Amanfro, is well-known in his community for his striking height and aspirations in basketball. A recent graduate of Abakrampa Senior High School, Ephraim harbors ambitions of representing Ghana in international basketball competitions.

According to Ghana Web, Ephraim's interest in sports began with volleyball during his basic school years. However, by the time he reached senior high school, basketball had become his passion. Despite the lack of a basketball court at Abakrampa SHS, he continued to pursue his dream, recently beginning training at Magic Basketball Academy in Tudu.

Ephraim recognizes that developing his skills is essential to achieving his goals. Inspired by French player Victor Wembanyama, he is working to improve his defensive skills and overall game. His current training is supported by his father and aims to prepare him for potential inclusion in Ghana's national basketball team.

Beyond basketball, Ephraim faces everyday challenges due to his height, particularly when using public transport. He often finds sitting in the back of vehicles uncomfortable and appeals for understanding from fellow passengers. In addition to his athletic pursuits, Ephraim works at a printing press and plans to study Computer Science at university, with aspirations of becoming a software engineer.
