Siena:Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has criticized Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, for not verifying the list of names submitted to the United States Embassy related to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to Ghana Web, Kofi Adams revealed in an earlier interview that he received a list of 90 people expected to perform various roles but did not cross-check the names, as they were provided by the National Sports Authority (NSA). He stated he trusted the NSA to conduct due diligence before submitting the list.
Assafuah strongly criticized the minister in an interview on October 12, 2026, for not verifying the list, especially after reports emerged that some individuals were assigned incorrect roles. He described Adams as the most incompetent minister he had ever seen and called for significant action.
He emphasized the need for the minister to have ensured all 90 people were indeed affiliates of the NSA, stating, "You are just telling us that you are just a conveyor belt. How incompetent can you be when you have been given a public institution to head?"
Assafuah mentioned specific cases of individuals misrepresented in the visa process. He highlighted a video involving Mr. Alex Mensah, whose sons reportedly paid ten thousand dollars to facilitate the process and were included in the list submitted to the US Embassy.
