Adenta:The Branch Manager of Oyibi Area Community Bank PLC, Adjetey Isaac Noi, faces charges of stealing after allegedly reactivating a dormant customer account without permission and transferring GHS1 million from the bank.
According to Ghana Web, the 28-year-old banker appeared before the Adenta Circuit Court and pleaded not guilty to the charges. The prosecution claims Noi used the reactivated dormant account as a transit account to move funds to multiple accounts at different banks between March and September 2025. The transactions were discovered during an audit at the Oyibi branch.
Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo informed the court that the investigation commenced after ARB Apex Bank PLC was alerted to potential fraudulent activities at the branch. On September 28, 2026, the Head of Audit and Inspection at ARB Apex Bank, along with a team, visited the branch, uncovering the transfer of GHS1 million from an internal account to another account at the same bank. This account, allegedly reactivated by Noi without the account holder's consent, was used to disperse funds to various financial institutions.
Following the audit, the ARB Apex Bank management instructed that a formal complaint be lodged with the police, leading to Noi's arrest. During questioning, the prosecution stated that Noi could not satisfactorily explain the transactions involving the GHS1 million.
Noi's lawyer sought bail, asserting that his client is not a flight risk, resides in Dodowa, Greater Accra Region, and will comply with court appearances. The court, led by Angela Attachie, granted him GHS1 million bail with two sureties, both required to justify the bail with property. The case continues, and the allegations against Noi remain unproven.
