Accra:Former Managing Director of SIC Life Savings and Loans, Amma Frimpomaa Dwumah, has reportedly appeared before the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) concerning her alleged involvement in an investigation linked to the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah.
According to Ghana Web, Dwumah allegedly received GHS1 million from Baffour Awuah and has met with EOCO officials regarding the matter. Reports indicate that there was suspected collusion involving Baffour Awuah, who served as a lawyer for SIC Life, an unnamed lawyer for Eco Swiss, and Frimpomaa Dwumah, resulting in the state receiving only GHS5 million out of a supposed GHS14 million.
EOCO has reportedly stated that Dwumah approved an agreement leading to significant financial losses for SIC Life without the board's consent. It is alleged that she signed the agreement after her term ended and subsequently received approximately GHS1 million from Baffour Awuah's legal firm.
A report from TV3 highlighted further allegations, suggesting that funds may have been transferred into Dwumah's private accounts from the law firm associated with the Member of Parliament following the transaction. Investigators believe there was collusion between Baffour Awuah, another unnamed NPP MP, and Dwumah.
