Coach Alleges Division Within SWAG Due to ‘Football Cabal’

Accra:Christopher Nimley has alleged that the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has been divided and compromised by what he describes as a 'football cabal.'

According to Ghana Web, Nimley raised concerns about the association's neutrality regarding Ghana football, particularly its response to the Save Ghana Football demonstration. He claimed that SWAG members did not support the demonstration, suggesting that some journalists with ties to the organisation benefit from the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Nimley stated that SWAG's leadership failed to back the demonstration, expressing his bluntness about the issue. He further alleged that some SWAG members enjoy privileges similar to the national team when traveling with the Black Stars, potentially hindering their willingness to criticise football authorities.

He also accused some SWAG members of launching a counter-campaign during the Save Ghana Football demonstration, claiming that these individuals, allegedly influenced by the FA, supported the notion that football was in safe hands.

Nimley concluded by emphasizing that those pushing for reforms in Ghana football would persist in their efforts, independent of SWAG's stance.
