Damongo:Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and Bole-Bamboi MP, Dr Alhaji Yussif Sulemana, has asserted that the NDC government has successfully restored confidence in Ghana's economy. He highlighted the contrast with the economic difficulties experienced under the previous NPP administration.
According to Ghana Web, Dr Sulemana emphasized that the government's economic interventions are beginning to manifest in the prices of essential commodities, infrastructure development, and employment opportunities for young people. He made these remarks while inaugurating new executives of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) at the Damongo College of Agriculture and Allied Sciences.
Dr Sulemana criticized the previous NPP administration, particularly former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, for inadequate economic management. He argued that the current improvements in economic indicators, such as reduced commodity prices and ongoing infrastructure projects, demonstrate a positive change.
He also highlighted the government's Big Push infrastructure programme, which has accelerated road construction across the country, including the Wenchi-Wa corridor through Bole. Dr Sulemana urged TEIN executives to actively advance the NDC's agenda, emphasizing the organization's role as a critical human-resource pipeline for the party.
Further, Dr Sulemana disclosed that over 200 young people from his area have secured positions in various national services, emphasizing that these opportunities were obtained without financial inducements. He mentioned that more appointments are expected from the Ghana Revenue Authority soon.
On the agricultural front, Dr Sulemana announced the establishment of Farmer Service Centres in Damongo and Sakpa to support farmers with better access to machinery, inputs, and storage facilities. He stressed the importance of enhancing agricultural production to strengthen the economy through local processing and exportation of surplus produce. The event was attended by NDC regional and constituency executives, highlighting the significance of the occasion.
