Accra:Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, has pleaded not guilty to charges related to a GHS9 million financial loss to the public purse.
According to Ghana Web, the charges include intentionally causing financial loss, conspiracy, and money laundering.
The allegations suggest that Awuah conspired with the Managing Director of SIC Life Savings and Loans in 2020 and transferred GHS1 million, knowing it was the proceeds of crime. The case is currently being heard in the High Court, with Deputy Attorney-General Dr. Justice Srem-Sai presenting the facts before Justice Charity Akosua Asem.
Awuah's lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, is expected to file an application for bail as the legal proceedings continue.
