Accra: The Ghana Police Service has declared Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, popularly known as 'Ghana Jollof', wanted in connection with an alleged case of incitement of violence. According to the police, it has been monitoring a TikTok account under the name "Ghana Jollof", which the accused person used to issue offensive and inciteful comments as well as publish false news likely to cause fear and alarm.
According to Ghana Web, the police have been making continuous efforts to clamp down on illicit online activities. The TikTok account "Ghana Jollof" was identified as a source of concerning content, leading to the revelation of the account owner's identity as Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, who is believed to be residing in the United Kingdom. The account has been used to produce and publish videos with statements that the police consider offensive and inciteful, with potential to provoke violence.
In a press conference held on September 18, 2026, Lydia Yaako Donkor, the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, explained that one of the videos under investigation includes a false claim by Kodua about a near coup d'©tat at the Jubilee House. The video alleges that the President's actions angered soldiers who attempted to overthrow him, and it also suggests the existence of CCTV footage of the incident that the government is allegedly concealing. The police shared this video during the press briefing to highlight the gravity of the allegations made.
The police are intensifying their efforts to locate Barbara Asantewaa Kodua and bring her to justice, as they continue to investigate the claims and the potential impact of her statements on social media.
