Accra: The Mpohor-Fiase District Assembly, leveraging the Disability Common Fund, has successfully organized a training workshop aimed at equipping Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in the district with essential self-employable skills. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance their economic empowerment and improve their overall livelihoods.
According to Ghana News Agency, the training focused on teaching participants the production of liquid and solid soap, as well as after-wash and bleach. The goal is to enable them to establish small businesses, generate income, and ultimately become economically self-reliant. During the training, Madam Sophia Aubyn, the District Chief Executive, reaffirmed the government's commitment to enhancing the lives of PwDs. She emphasized the Assembly's readiness to provide start-up kits after the training, allowing participants to effectively apply their newly acquired skills.
Mr. John Donkoh, the Presiding Member of the Assembly, motivated participants by highlighting the importance of self-belief and the potential to achieve meaningful improvements in their lives despite their disabilities. Officers from the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development also contributed to the training by educating participants on business sustainability, branding, and marketing, which are crucial for effectively managing and growing their businesses.
