Accra: A 19-year-old unemployed man has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment by the Asante Abuakwa Circuit Court in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality for causing harm at Nketia near Abuakwa.
According to Ghana News Agency, Aaron Atta pleaded not guilty to the charge of causing harm but was convicted after a full trial of the case. Police Detective Chief Inspector Alexander Agbekpornu, prosecuting, informed the court presided over by Mrs. Philomena Ansaah Asiedu that the complainant, Owusu Boakye Yiadom, was a Disk Jockey (DJ) residing at Nketia, while the convict resided at Adankwame.
The incident occurred on December 02, 2025, at about 11:30 am. The complainant, on his way to work, reached his house at Nketia and heard some unusual noise inside. Upon investigation, he saw the convict coming down from the ceiling, attempting to escape. Yiadom tried to apprehend him, but the convict stabbed him on the shoulder and left side of his stomach before fleeing.
Despite bleeding profusely, the complainant pursued the convict and, with the assistance of nearby individuals, managed to capture him. Aaron Atta was subsequently handed over to the Asuofua police. In his caution statement, Atta admitted to the offence, and after further investigations, he was charged and brought before the court.
The complainant was initially rushed to the Suntreso Government Hospital but was later transferred for further medical care.
