Accra: The newly appointed Minister for Labour, Employment and Job Creation, Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, has encouraged the management and staff of the ministry to explore new opportunities and develop ideas that can help create jobs for Ghanaians. He highlighted that unemployment remains a significant challenge and urged the staff, particularly young officers, to research how other countries have addressed unemployment and identify solutions that could be adapted to Ghana.
According to Ghana Web, Agyekum emphasized the need for practical and innovative ideas that can create jobs while improving productivity. He also called for greater teamwork among staff, noting that both experienced and younger officers have valuable ideas and perspectives to contribute. He urged the incorporation of job creation into the plans and budgets of all government ministries.
Agyekum disclosed that he had directed the preparation of a proposal to be submitted to Cabinet, requiring ministries to demonstrate how their budgets and programmes would contribute to job creation. He stressed the importance of ministries developing clear strategies to show how their activities could create employment opportunities and support Ghana's industrialisation agenda. Agyekum concluded by emphasizing that tackling unemployment would require fresh ideas, innovation, and collaboration across government to create more opportunities for Ghanaians.
