Accra: Ghanaian veteran actress Irene Opare has openly expressed her admiration for the dancehall musician Shatta Wale, highlighting his charisma as a unique quality that distinguishes him from many public figures. In a candid interview with Seancity TV, Irene Opare named Shatta Wale as her favorite male artist, citing her appreciation for various aspects of his personality and career.
According to Ghana Web, Irene Opare emphasized that anyone visiting her home on an ordinary day would likely find her immersed in music and dancing. Although acting remains her passion, music holds a significant place in her daily life. She stated, "Movies are my passion, but music is my thing. On a regular day, if you find me at home, you will see me playing music and dancing."
Irene Opare particularly praised Shatta Wale's charisma, describing it as a rare attribute that transcends the entertainment industry. She drew parallels between Shatta Wale and Ghana's late former President Jerry John Rawlings, noting that both possess a level of charisma that captivates people regardless of differing opinions.
Illustrating her point, she remarked that even those who strongly dislike Shatta Wale would be eager to meet him in public. "If you hate Shatta, whether maybe he has insulted your mother or father and you hear that he is coming down the road, you will run to go and see him. You will go and shake his hand and that's the charisma I'm talking about," she explained.
Furthermore, Irene Opare disclosed her preference for Shatta Wale's song 'On God,' describing it as her personal favorite. For her, the song carries a spiritual essence, making it feel almost like a conversation with God. She said, "I love all his songs, but 'On God' is my favourite. That song feels like a spirit when you're singing it. It's gospel music and it's like you're talking to God."
