Kintampo: The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has rescued a driver who was trapped inside a truck following an accident on the Kintampo-Tamale Highway. The accident took place at Water Falls Junction on Friday, August 14, 2026.
According to Ghana Web, the GNFS shared a statement on Facebook on Sunday, August 16, indicating that they received a distress call at 4:36 pm reporting the incident. The service promptly dispatched a rescue team to the accident site. Upon their arrival at 16:46hrs, the crew discovered that a Shacman trailer, with registration number GC 3825-19, was involved in the accident. The truck, loaded with packs of bottled drinks, was traveling from Kumasi to Buipe.
The fire crew, under the leadership of ASTNO Agyekum Emmanuel, found the driver trapped inside the vehicle. They immediately initiated rescue operations to free him. The driver was successfully extracted from the truck and transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
The GNFS reported that the scene was made safe before the crew returned to the station at 6:27 pm, following the completion of the rescue operation. The cause of the accident and the current condition of the driver have not been disclosed.
