Bono NPP Delegates Retain ‘Abronye DC’ as Regional Chairman

Sunyani: The 281 delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono Region have retained Mr. Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as 'Abronye DC,' as the Regional Chairman of the Party in the Regional Executive Elections. Mr. Baffoe secured 201 valid votes to maintain his position in an election that concluded peacefully at the GNAT Hall in Sunyani.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Baffoe's contenders included Mr. Mahama Yaw Afful, a former Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister of Aviation, who received 44 votes. Other candidates were Mr. Joseph Mensah with 31 votes, Mr. Kwabena Oppong with three votes, and Mr. Evans Afari Gyan, who did not receive any votes. The election, conducted and supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC), recorded one rejected ballot.

In other results, Mrs. Kate Amponsah was elected as the First Vice Chairperson, securing 252 valid votes against her only competitor, Mr. Peter Asomah Boampong, who garnered 29 votes. The Second Vice Chairperson position was claimed by Mr. Kwaku Antwi Agyei, a legal practitioner, with 123 valid votes. His rivals, Mr. Issa Issaka and Mr. Kwadwo Agyekum, received 89 and 68 votes, respectively.

The incumbent Secretary, Mr. Kofi Ofosu Boateng, retained his role by obtaining 187 valid votes, surpassing Mr. Baffour Awuah, who received 93 votes. The Deputy Secretary position was won by Mr. Randy Issahaku, who secured 145 valid votes, compared to Mr. Stephen Opuni's 135 votes.

Mr. Abdul Razack was elected as the Organiser with 229 valid votes, defeating Mr. Bill Darlington, who received 52 votes. For the Communications Officer role, Mr. Osman Faho emerged victorious with 170 valid votes against Mr. Abubakari Yakubu, also known as 'Baba Amando,' who secured 111 votes.

The Nasara Organiser position was claimed by Mr. Osman Faisal with 177 valid votes, defeating Mr. Bashiru Wahab, who received 101 votes. Madam Samira Sulley narrowly ousted the incumbent Women's Organiser, Mrs. Doris Asomah, by polling 142 valid votes to Mrs. Asomah's 139 votes.

In the Treasurer race, Madam Veronica Tuffour won with 132 votes against Mr. Kassim Siaka, who received 125 votes, and Mr. Henry Osei, who garnered 123 votes. Mr. Ibrahim Bamba Dauda was elected as the Youth Organiser with 102 valid votes, ahead of Mr. Shadrach Abrefa Mensah with 92 votes, Mr. Joeffrey Kwarteng Brobbey with 58 votes, and Mr. Baba Suwari with 29 votes.

Mr. Kennedy Opoku, Deputy Bono Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, announced the results of the polls.
